Chapter 244: Abduction (2)
Chapter 244: Abduction (2)
Just as Niftan was mobilizing his forces to find his son, Rise’s unconscious body was then transferred to an unknown location. Every surveillance malfunctioned at the same time, and most traces they left seemed to have been deliberately erased.
It was incomprehensible, but it was the truth. Somehow, those people who helped transfer Rise and the Blue guild members with them were unusual.
Their steps were almost in sync, and their expressions seemed blank. However, Mitchel had failed to notice it. He only has Rise in his focus.
The words were ringing in his ear.
[You did the right thing, Mitchel. Let the new S-rank manage your guild for now.]
[Hide Rise well. That monster will find him... and hurt him. Only you can save Rise, Mitchel.]
At the back of his mind, Mitchel was still questioning and doubting these words; the guilt of having poisoned Rise with his own hands was making him hesitant.
Yet, for some reason, he could not resist being bewitched by the words the voice had uttered to him. Mitchel’s reason was being clouded by the voice and even more so by his own desire, which was amplified by the voice.
No matter how he fought it, the more the voice lingered and corrupted his reason.
Mitchel looked at Rise; his pupils flickered before returning to normal. The influence on him by the voice slowly seeped through his whole being.
Until he finally could not doubt anything. That was the last string.
"You’re right. Only I can save him." Mitchel stared at Rise. "You’ll understand me, right, Rise?"
At the same time that the aircraft left the capital, one person was watching it with a smile on his lips. His purple pupils shone in genuine amusement.
"You’re still naive, Rise."
Everything in this world... was a pawn. Whether you... Or me.
There was only a difference. Epsilon looked ahead of him, seeing the Blue guild members now bowing to him. His expression lifted.
I am the protagonist.

When Rise fell unconscious, he knew that he had fucked up. So much. After all, he had trusted Mitchel, and so he did not even tell his father who he was going to meet.
Rise was also confident with his prowess, and his ability could attract so much attention. No one would be able to conduct a sneak attack against him.
Well, that was a great miscalculation.
He never thought Mitchel would poison him with mana restrictions and was now helpless. While this was not fatal and not deadly in some sense, Rise might not be able to exert any of his abilities for a few days or even weeks if the dose were great.
Judging from how he even fell unconscious, it would definitely be a great dose.
Fucking Mitchel.
Rise could only grumble inside of him. Now, he was even getting anxious that once he disappeared, the world might undergo a change.
What would Kamille do? No, not just him, even his father.
Thinking about that already made him stressed out.
Rise opened his eyes and expected that the same place would welcome him. He was right about that. This time, Rise did not even get up and spoke directly.
"The author is now using Mitchel?"
Although it was a question, Rise was certain about it. Mitchel would never do this without others’ influence. He could only think of one person who would be able to do this.
Epsilon even entered the Blue Guild.
A light then appeared, and the book was now floating before Rise. Its pages were closed as usual, the black cover facing him.
[Indeed so.]
Rise’s face showed no surprise about that, but he grimaced slightly.
"They are trying to end this reset. Desperately." He could discern that it was what the author wanted.
If they were not dumb, they had long known Rise and Kamille’s plan to ruin them. And so, Epsilon had to descend early without caring about the plot any longer.
Once more, the book agreed.
[You have to be ready.]
Rise looked at it. He did not respond, but his serious expression hardened significantly. If it were any other day, Rise might have confidently said any words; he could not find himself to do so now.
After all, he was still in this predicament.
"If the author’s determined to end this run and forcibly reset, what should we do?"
Rise was always thinking about this. He was saying big words about fighting this world and the author, but there were certain points he admitted that stumped him, and thus, he was powerless to move against them.
He wanted confirmation about this point. In a matter of desperation, they had more to lose than the author. Rise did not even know if what they were doing, or what they had already done, had damaged the author’s foundation.
[They can’t do that. This world can’t be forcibly reset because of certain rules.]
Rise’s interest was immediately piqued. It was not always possible for him to visit this place. This was the best opportunity to gather as much information as he could before he woke up and faced that fucking traitor, Mitchel.
"What do you mean? What rules? Is the author still subject to rules?" He wanted to ask more, but decided to inquire about this first.
The book was not hesitant this time and actively answered. It seemed the urgency had also gotten into it.
[The rules of the bookworld. The author or anyone can’t stop the world that has already started, only by finishing it will everything reset again.]
Rise could understand it.
"But they tried to kill Kamille to reset everything before."
[It’s a loophole. The author used it but failed. They can use it again, but the chances are slim. You and Kamille can’t easily be killed.]
In terms of power, yes. Unless the whole world ganged up against them, the two would not be easily killed, especially Kamille.
Rise suddenly remembered, and his face changed; he even got up directly.
"Wait. I can easily be killed now. I’m poisoned and won’t be able to use my abilities."
[Don’t worry. The one who abducted you won’t kill you.]
Mitchel? Well, if it were any other day, he also thought so. However, that very same person poisoned him, and he did not even know where he was now.
"I’m not sure about that."
[You can rest assured.]
Rise’s brows moved, and he looked at the book. What made it so sure? Anyways, he would not argue it as he already felt his body waking up.
"One last question. If we enter the last stage, because I’m captured... Kamille won’t sit still and might expose himself. Will you lend us a hand?"
Rise had a premonition. The events of the last reset would return. And it would not just be directed to him.
The book flickered, and words appeared.
[Yes.]
Rise nodded slightly and gave a smile. For some reason, he trusted that. His eyes became heavy. This was one he had already experienced a lot of times, and so he let his consciousness drift once more.
