Guanzhong Tomb Robbery Notes

Chapter 333 Zhougong Temple, I know I can’t escape

Chapter 333 Zhougong Temple, I know I can’t escape

I flipped through my diary while guessing in my mind.

I want to find some clues from the diary contents later.

Boss Dong yelled, "Hey, hey, did you see anything useful?"

"Why don't we look for a map of the tomb first?"

"See where it is."

"If it's the tomb of the Western Zhou emperor, we'll be rich!"

No wonder Boss Dong is concerned about it.

Although there are a large number of unearthed cultural relics from the Western Zhou Dynasty and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, most of them were unearthed from the tombs of princes in various places.

The only royal tomb of the Zhou Dynasty that has been discovered is the Jincun Tomb near Luoyang.

The Jincun Tomb was looted during the Republic of China.

A total of eight royal tombs were robbed, and a large number of top-level cultural relics were lost overseas, which is known as the pain of domestic archaeology.

The reason why it is called a royal tomb, rather than the tomb of the Eastern Zhou emperor, is because it is impossible to confirm that it is the emperor's tomb.

Judging from the level of cultural relics lost overseas, it is very likely to be the emperor's tomb...

In addition, according to historical records and previous research, it is believed that in addition to Jincun, there are two other mausoleum areas of the Eastern Zhou royal family around Luoyang, namely Wangcheng and Zhoushan.

It is believed that these three mausoleum areas buried a total of twenty-five emperors of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.

As to where the Western Zhou royal tombs are, it remains a mystery to this day!

From ancient times to the present, no one has found the location of the Western Zhou royal tombs.

Well, I need to say a little more here.

There is a Zhouling Town in my hometown, Xianyang. Since the Eastern Han Dynasty, there has been a custom of offering sacrifices to King Wen of Zhou and King Wu of Zhou.

The place for sacrifice is right in front of the burial mounds of several nearby tombs.

After thousands of years of transmission, these tombs were passed down as the tombs of King Wen of Zhou, King Wu of Zhou and others.

During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, Bi Yuan, the governor of Shaanxi Province, conducted research and believed that the mounds were the tombs of King Wen Jichang, King Wu Jifa and others, and erected steles for each of them.

For a long time afterwards, these so-called Western Zhou royal tombs were officially recognized.

But in fact, those tombs have nothing to do with the Western Zhou Dynasty.

But it is the Qin Dynasty Mausoleum.

Don't ask me how I know.

Because I excavated those tombs in the 1980s.

Through the things excavated, it can be determined that those tombs are the tombs of the Qin royal family during the Warring States Period.

Let’s get back to the present.

I thought to myself that I could really go back and read the contents of the diary slowly.

It is more important to study the map marking the large tomb first.

Because it not only represents the location of the tomb, it may even be related to the safety of Professor Zhang and Zhang Nan.

Wow!

I flipped through the diary quickly.

Turning to the last page, I finally saw the hand-drawn map.

The map was crudely drawn.

If Saito Akihiro really made a rubbing of the painting, it means that the original painting itself was very rough.

But think about it.

Professor Zhang is a historian, not a surveyor.

It's good enough if you can roughly draw a map.

There was a circle drawn in the center of the map, with the words "Zhougong Temple" written below it.

Speaking of Zhou Gong, friends who are familiar with history should all know him.

Even if you are not familiar with history, you should have heard of "The Interpretation of Dreams by Zhou Gong".

Because Confucius once said, "I no longer dream of Zhou Gong."

Later generations associated Zhou Gong with dreams.

He falsely claimed the name of Duke Zhou and created a book on dream interpretation, "The Interpretation of Dreams by Duke Zhou".

Duke Zhou's surname was Ji and his given name was Dan.

He was the fourth son of King Wen of Zhou and the younger brother of King Wu of Zhou.

He first assisted King Wu in defeating King Zhou and destroying the Shang Dynasty, and later assisted the young and inexperienced King Cheng. He formulated rituals and music and established court rules, bringing peace and order to the world.

Later, Cao Cao wrote in "Short Song": Zhou Gong spits out food to feed his guests, and the people of the world are at peace.

In order to commemorate Zhou Gong, Emperor Gaozu of Tang, Li Yuan, issued an edict to build the Zhou Gong Temple to worship him.

The Zhougong Temple was repaired and expanded during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.

This formed the present-day Zhougong Temple ancient building complex.

The location of Zhougong Temple is at the southern foot of Fengming Mountain in Qishan County today.

Based on the Zhougong Temple marked on the map, the location of the tomb can be roughly determined.

Because the location of the tomb marked on the map is not far from Zhougong Temple!

In addition, it is a wasteland with sparse vegetation.

It's easier to find.

"How's it going?"

"Can you confirm the location?"

"Would you like me to find a map for you? Take the map and compare it carefully."

Boss Dong was extremely anxious.

Everyone wants to stick their head over to take a look.

I closed my diary and said, "Watch the road."

"Drive carefully, don't be distracted, and be careful of car accidents."

"Hey hey!" Boss Dong yelled angrily.

"Tell me quickly, or there will be a car accident!"

I smiled and said, "It's definitely next to the Zhougong Temple in Qishan County."

"When we get back, walk around the directions on the map twice, and we should be able to find the tomb."

"And there is probably more than one Western Zhou tomb in that place."

squeak!

Boss Dong slammed on the brakes and stopped the car on the side of the road.

He excitedly grabbed my arm and shouted, "Are you sure?!"

“How many tombs are marked on the map?!”

I opened the diary and waved the picture in front of him.

“Only one is marked, but…”

"But what is it? Tell me!"

I recalled, “Professor Zhang once told me this when he was drunk.”

"They said they found the burial place of the Western Zhou Dynasty kings. No, that's not what they said."

"It should be. It is very likely that we have found the royal tomb of the Western Zhou Dynasty."

"Even if it's not the tomb of the Zhou emperor, it's still the tomb of a very important figure in the Zhou royal family."

"During the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was popular to bury fathers, sons, and grandchildren in the same place."

"Since Professor Zhang discovered the great tomb of the Western Zhou royal family, there is likely an entire mausoleum area nearby!"

"Hiss!" Boss Dong took a deep breath in excitement.

"Makes sense!"

"That makes sense!"

"A whole mausoleum area...we have to go back and dig it up!"

"Otherwise, someone will get there first and won't even get a mouthful of soup!"

Of course I also want to go back quickly.

But the problem is that there is no identity that can be used to leave through normal channels.

If I go back by water, I will most likely be hunted down by the big circle guys.

Trouble!

After the excitement, Boss Dong gradually calmed down.

He narrowed his eyes slightly and tapped his fingers lightly on the steering wheel.

“Shipment.”

"Take care of the big circle boy."

"We have to speed up the process of getting you a Hong Kong identity card."

"Well, we also have to arrange to send your grandfather back."

"I'll send someone to take your grandfather back first."

"You shouldn't go visit Grandpa, lest the news leak out and the big circle guys worry about him."

"By the way, do you want to buy some tools?"

"It's very convenient to buy imported tools here, and they're very easy to use."

When it comes to tools, my eyes light up.

As the saying goes, if you want to do your work well, you must first sharpen your tools.

The importance of good tools to tomb robbery is self-evident.

Moreover, tomb robbers never stick to the old ways, but try their best to arm themselves with high technology.

Use blasting instead of digging tomb passages, use metal detectors to assist in finding tombs, etc.

Any tool that is useful will be used.

Even the traditional Luoyang shovel has undergone several upgrades.

"You can go check out the tools..."

As I was speaking, a motorcycle stopped beside me.

The rider was wearing a black leather jacket and a black helmet, wrapped tightly.

He suddenly took out a photo and stuck it on the car window.

The moment I saw the photo, I was stunned.

The photo shows Saito Akihiro tied up!

Suddenly, the words Saito Akihiro once said rang in my mind: "I knew I couldn't avoid it... I can't avoid it, what should I do!"
