Chapter 26 Becoming a Teacher to the Orcs
Chapter 26 Becoming a Teacher to the Orcs
The next morning, a single male beastman from the Ape-Beast Tribe brought them breakfast: half a roasted deer and some fruit. Linni thanked him very politely. Then, the male beastman blushed and said, "Lin, I want to be your mate, is that alright?"
"?" Linni witnessed once again just how direct the people in this beastman world could be. This was the first time she'd ever met him! Before she could answer, Ye walked up behind her and hugged her. Linni suddenly found her courage: "I'm sorry, I don't want to find a new partner right now."
The male orc was a little disappointed, but still said, "Alright. My name is Qing. If you want to find a new mate, remember to look for me."
Linni gave a polite smile: "Okay, sure."
When the male orc saw that she had agreed, he left happily, as if Linni had already agreed to be his mate.
Before Linni could turn around and enter the cave, another male orc appeared, carrying some food. "Hello, Lin! I am a level four orc named Qi. Can you be my mate?"
Linni: "Sorry, no, that's not allowed."
No sooner had she finished speaking than another male orc approached. Linni saw the food in his hand and quickly ran back into the cave. She could still hear the male orc outside calling to her, "Lin, I've brought you food. I want you to accept my courtship!"
Lin Ni: "No, I won't accept it!"
This ongoing courtship farce only ended when Aya and Ahua led the chief of the ape tribe's mate to the cave to find Linni.
The chieftain of the ape tribe's partner was a very tall and voluptuous middle-aged woman with somewhat dark skin, but a kind and gentle smile on her face: "Hello, lovely little female, I heard you saved Ahua at the bonfire party last night, thank you so much!"
Lin Ni smiled modestly: "Ahua already thanked me last night, so you don't need to be so polite."
Aya walked over and took Linni's hand: "Lin, this is Xin, the partner of our chief of the ape tribe. She heard that you are going to teach us the method you used to save Ahua last night, and she is a little skeptical."
Lin Ni nodded and said, "Ah Xin, hello! It's true. When do you think would be a good time to arrange it?"
“Dear Lin, this is wonderful! I’ve called the women of the tribe to wait for you in the open space last night. You can come over in a little while,” A-Xin said happily.
"Okay, I'll be there in a bit." Linni saw them off, returned to the cave, and had a good breakfast with Ye. Then she asked Ye, "Ye, when are we leaving here?"
Ye didn't like eating fruit, so he ate all the leftover roasted meat that Linni had eaten before saying, "I saw that you really liked the Ape Beast Tribe, so I thought you were planning to stay here and not leave."
Linni smiled and shook her head: "They are indeed very warm and hospitable, and these houses are also uniquely built, but it's not a place I want to stay and live."
Night said, "Then let's leave first thing tomorrow morning."
After agreeing on the next steps, Linni left the cave and went to the open space where the bonfire party had been held the previous night. She saw about a dozen females already waiting there, with dozens of male beastmen watching from the outside. When Axin saw Linni arrive, she happily went to greet her: "Lin, all the females in our tribe have come! This is a life-saving method! It's wonderful that you're willing to teach our tribe!"
Linni actually wanted to tell them that this method wasn't just for females; male beastmen could learn it too. But in the end, she didn't say so. Perhaps the beastmen tribe wanted to use this to elevate the status of females? She greeted everyone, then had the females form a circle, leaving the center empty. Everyone sat cross-legged and began to explain: "This life-saving method is called 'The Embrace of Life'—the Heimlich maneuver. It's a skill applicable when someone is unable to breathe due to airway obstruction, which could lead to accidental death from lack of oxygen."
As soon as she finished speaking, the women started talking amongst themselves because they couldn't understand what airway obstruction meant, nor could they comprehend words like breathing or oxygen deprivation.
Linni thought for a moment. It seemed a bit too difficult for a high school graduate to be a teacher to the beastmen of the primitive world. After organizing for a while, she began to speak again: "Everyone, put your hands under your noses." She demonstrated as she spoke: "Inhale—exhale, can you feel the airflow?" Seeing the females follow her movements and nod, Linni told everyone: "This is breathing. What we inhale is oxygen."
Linni began explaining the causes and consequences of choking on food in a language the orcs could understand. She then taught them the proper way to perform a life-saving embrace, demonstrating it step-by-step, having them practice on each other. The females, who were capable of transforming into human form, were all highly skilled and quickly learned. Linni then taught them what to do if the person choking was unconscious and lying on the ground, and that this method also applied to drowning.
After teaching these skills, it was already afternoon. The chief of the Ape Beast Tribe and his partner, Ah Xin, once again solemnly thanked Lin Ni. Lin Ni smiled and told them that she planned to leave the Ape Beast Tribe the next morning. Ah Xin regretfully tried to persuade them to stay, hoping they could join the Ape Beast Tribe, but Lin Ni refused, saying, "We are going to the Tiger Beast Tribe. We will definitely come back to visit you when we have the chance."
Aya hugged Lin Ni with reluctance: "May the Beast God bless the lovely, beautiful and powerful Lin, you must come back to see me."
Linni nodded emphatically: "I will!"
That evening, Linni took out some straw and asked Ye Yong to make her a vest dress from deerskin, with slits on both sides reaching her thighs. This way, it wouldn't restrict her movement and would keep her warm and look good. The weather was gradually getting cooler, and she felt a bit chilly in her summer sportswear during the day when she wasn't in the sun, let alone in the mornings and evenings. She also asked Ye Yong to make her a cape-like coat, shorter in the front and longer in the back, so she could wear it when it was cold and wear the vest dress alone when it wasn't.
While Lin was making clothes, the chief of the Ape Beast tribe sent a small bamboo tube of salt and two large bamboo tubes of jam and wine, and thanked Lin again for her help to the tribe. This was a godsend for Lin, as she was out of salt. Even at night, she remarked, "This gift is quite valuable."
After Ye finished making her new clothes, Lin Ni twirled around in them several times. The white fur coat paired with a brown dress was incredibly stylish—a genuine leather set! Seeing her happy, Ye was also very pleased. For the first time, Lin Ni initiated intimacy with Ye, partly as a reward for his skillful handiwork, and partly because she knew they would be traveling again soon, making intimacy less convenient, especially with the weather getting colder.
Linni's initiative greatly excited Ye, and although it was a cool autumn night, both of them were burning with passion...
