Chapter 25 Sensing the Crisis

After Su Jinxiu recovered from her illness, she inadvertently saw Su Yue talking furtively with unfamiliar faces on several occasions while walking around the mansion. Each time Su Yue saw her, she would hurriedly end the conversation and leave in a flustered manner.

"Su Yue must be plotting some kind of nefarious scheme," Su Jinxiu thought to herself, growing increasingly wary.

She instructed Xiao Cui to keep a close eye on Su Yue's movements, and she herself became more careful and cautious, reducing her outings and staying in crowded places as much as possible when she was at home.

Meanwhile, Xiao Ling encountered numerous obstacles while investigating the evidence used to frame Su Jinxiu. The bribed witnesses either disappeared or gave testimonies that were detrimental to Su Jinxiu.

"It seems the person behind this is quite powerful, and the plan is so meticulous." Xiao Ling frowned, secretly worried.

Su Jinxiu's life in the Marquis's mansion wasn't easy either. She noticed that some of the servants around her had become indifferent, even deliberately neglectful. She knew this was Su Yue's tactic to isolate her.

"Miss, what should we do? All the servants have been bribed by the Second Miss. We have to think of a way," Xiao Cui said anxiously.

Su Jinxiu pondered for a moment and said, "Don't panic. Let's remain calm and see what they're up to."

However, things got worse. Su Jinxiu's food was tampered with again, but luckily she discovered it in time and avoided being affected again.

"We can't just sit here and wait to die any longer." Su Jinxiu decided to take the initiative.

She began to win over some of the servants in the mansion who had not yet been bribed by Su Yue, giving them some benefits so that they could pass on messages for her.

Through the information gathered by these servants, Su Jinxiu learned that Su Yue was in frequent contact with a mysterious person, and that this mysterious person seemed to wield considerable power.

"We must find out the identity of this mysterious person as soon as possible," Su Jinxiu thought to herself.

Just as she was trying to find clues, an uninvited guest suddenly arrived at the Marquis's residence.

"Miss Su, my master requests your presence," said a guard with a blank expression.

Su Jinxiu's heart tightened, and she asked, "Who is your master?"

The guard replied coldly, "You'll find out when you get there."

Su Jinxiu knew that this trip might be fraught with danger, but in order to find out the truth, she still decided to go with the guards.

When she arrived at a luxurious mansion, she met the so-called owner, who turned out to be a high-ranking minister in the imperial court.

"Miss Su, I've long admired your name," the minister said with a forced smile.

Su Jinxiu bowed and asked, "May I ask what business you have with me, sir?"

The minister said slowly, "I've heard that you have a close relationship with the Prince of Yan. As long as you leave the Prince of Yan, I can guarantee your safety."

Su Jinxiu realized that this was another conspiracy targeting her and Xiao Ling.

“My lord, my relationship with the Prince of Yan is completely innocent. Why are you forcing me like this?” Su Jinxiu said, neither humble nor arrogant.

The minister's face darkened: "You won't listen to reason, so you'll have to suffer the consequences. Just you wait and see."

Su Jinxiu returned to the Marquis's residence, her heart filled with worry. She knew she had been drawn into a massive conspiracy, and the enemy's power was far greater than she had imagined.

On Xiao Ling's side, after several days and nights of investigation, some crucial clues were finally discovered.

"As long as we follow this lead, we're sure to find evidence and clear Jinxiu's name," Xiao Ling thought hopefully.

But just then, he received news that Su Jinxiu had been taken away by a mysterious person, and he was immediately anxious.

"No matter what, I must find her and protect her." Xiao Ling led his men and accelerated the pace of the investigation.

Meanwhile, Su Jinxiu, in the minister's residence, was also trying to find a way to escape. She knew that time was of the essence; she had to get out of this predicament as soon as possible, reunite with Xiao Ling, and deal with this crisis together.
