Chapter 25 Leisurely Travel
Chapter 25 Leisurely Travel
"Chief, did you call me?"
The young man stood in front of Lechu and Lezhi. He first gave Lezhi, who was looking at him with starry eyes, a big smile before asking Lechu a question.
"Yes, I remember there was a vacant spot next to where you lived."
"Yes, could it be that you want to..."
“Yes, that’s what you think. I’m going to let Lezhi move in.” Nodding in affirmation of Leyou’s idea, Lechu lowered her head and instructed Lezhi, “Lezhi, this is Leyou. Have him take you to your accommodation. I’ll go arrange some other things. You get some rest, I’ll come see you later.”
Nodding quickly, Yuezhi replied, "Okay, I understand, thank you, Clan Chief Yuechu."
"Alright, since the cub is fine, leave it to me. I'll make sure everything is settled properly." Seeing Lezhi's obedient appearance, Leyou patted his chest and agreed to the task.
After repeatedly reminding the two of the precautions, Le Chu watched them leave. The cub was finally back. Now, he had many things to do, the first being to figure out the problem of Le Zhi's innate talent deficiency.
With a soft sigh, a hint of worry flashed in Le Chu's eyes. She turned and returned to the clan's council chamber. Soon, a member of the Spirit Feather Clan flew out of the council chamber. He quickly flapped his wings and flew out of the clan, disappearing from sight in no time.
On the other side, Leyou and Lezhi weren't so preoccupied. Leyou was a very lively person, and since Lezhi had just returned to his tribe and knew nothing, he enthusiastically chattered away, explaining all sorts of common sense about life to him. This was exactly what Lezhi needed right now, but Leyou just talked about whatever came to mind, and Lezhi treated it like a casual chat, figuring they'd get to know each other better eventually.
With Leyou's enthusiastic explanation, they left the main square and came to a small path. It was just getting light. The tribespeople usually didn't get up this early, but today was special. Since they were already awake, everyone began their daily work.
"Hey, Leyou, the clan leader asked you to take care of the cubs?"
"Yes, are you leaving now?"
Three tribesmen saw Lezhi and Leyou together and approached them to strike up a conversation. Leyou noticed that they were all carrying baskets and weapons, and asked them questions out of curiosity.
“Yeah, I won’t be able to sleep if I go back now, so I might as well take this time to go hunting and gathering in the woods.”
"Okay, that's great. Once I've settled the cubs in, we'll go out together in a couple of days."
"Okay, no problem. So, the chieftain has entrusted the cub to you? Will he be living with you?"
Leyou chatted enthusiastically with the tribespeople, while Lezhi, whose cheeks flushed from being called "little cub" repeatedly, felt rather embarrassed.
"No, the chieftain told me to settle the cubs next to mine..."
"that……"
"Hmm, the cub spoke! Oh, how cute! What does the cub want to say?"
Well, I was just trying to remind my people that I have a name, but before the cubs were even finished, another one appeared. Lezhi closed her eyes in embarrassment, raised her hand and hugged the fluffy ball on her head. With the fluffy ball as comfort, Lezhi finally mustered up the courage to speak, "Um, my name is Lezhi."
"Huh?" Upon hearing Lezhi's words, the clansman who had just spoken blinked in confusion. Suddenly, he realized what was going on and replied seriously, "My name is Le Nian, and the ones behind me are Le Ju and Le Ting. Is this what you want to ask, little one?"
Speechless at Le Nian's sudden recitation of names, Le Zhi had no idea how to respond. Meanwhile, Le You, who had already seen through everything, burst into laughter.
"Hahaha~ Le Nian, you're amazing! Le Zhi probably doesn't mean she wants to know your names, right? Hahaha..."
Completely bewildered by Le You's laughter, Le Nian was utterly confused. Le Ju and Le Ting, standing behind him, also understood what Le Zhi and Le You meant and were secretly smiling.
With Lezhi utterly despondent and Le Nian completely bewildered, Leyou finally finished laughing and waved his hand, ending the conversation.
"Alright, I'm not chatting with you guys anymore. Aren't you going to gather resources? Go on, I need to take the cubs back to settle them in. See you next time."
"Okay, see you next time."
Everyone said their goodbyes, but Le Nian was still full of questions even after parting ways with Le Zhi.
"Lezhi, everyone calls you 'little one' because they like you, there's no malice in it. Next time if you don't like it, just say so."
After parting ways with Le Nian and the others for a while, Le You spoke softly with a smile.
"Yeah, I know, I'm just a little embarrassed."
Smiling as she answered, Lezhi rubbed the fur ball, which elicited a soft "cheep cheep" in response. Seeing Lezhi interacting with the fur ball in her arms, Leyou recalled the scene of Lezhi jumping off the fur ball's back, paused, and asked curiously.
"By the way, the chieftain said that Maoqiu is a companion you made in the jungle. Did he say what kind of creature Maoqiu is? It's so amazing, it can actually transform. I've never heard of such a bird-beast race before."
"No." Shaking her head to indicate that she didn't know either, Lezhi explained, "It seems that the clan leader and the others haven't seen it either. They guess that the furball is from outside and shouldn't be a native species of the Spirit Feather Clan's territory."
"Alright, but even if it's from another tree spirit territory, it's strange that there was no news about it beforehand." Leyou stroked his chin, a thoughtful look flashing in his eyes.
"Forget it, never mind. The chieftain and the others don't know, so there's no point in me thinking about it. By the way, I saw you get off the furball's back when you came back. Did it fly you all the way back with you?"
"um, yes."
"Wow~" Leyou exclaimed in an exaggerated way to express his surprise. "Maoqiu is so cute. This is the first time I've ever seen a bird or beast carrying a person. I'm so envious. I wish I had a bird or beast companion. When I go on long trips, I can have it carry me instead of flying around all by myself."
"Yes, Maoqiu is very well-behaved." Hearing the tribespeople praise Maoqiu, Lezhi was as happy as if she herself had been praised. "Before I came back, I was worried that the tribespeople would reject Maoqiu, but it seems that everyone didn't have a big reaction, which was a bit unexpected."
"Well, because it's your own business, and the clan leader hasn't objected." Hearing Lezhi's question, Leyou thought for a moment, wondering what Lezhi was worried about.
"Speaking of which, will Maoqiu live with you? Or does he need a separate house?"
"what?"
Drawn off course by Leyou's sudden change of topic, Lezhi seriously considered the possibility of Maoqiu living alone. She lowered her head and met Maoqiu's beady eyes.
"Furry, what do you think? Do you want to live alone or with me?"
Seemingly not understanding what Lezhi was asking, the adorable, slightly crooked head and body of the furball looked at Lezhi cutely.
Overwhelmed by the adorable interaction between the two creatures, Leyou paused involuntarily. Before she could scream out in excitement, she regained her composure and quickly covered her mouth, narrowly avoiding losing her composure in front of Lezhi.
Le You cleared her throat lightly to mask her excitement before speaking calmly, "It's alright, we'll find out when we try. Come on, over here."
The two of them weren't in a hurry, and strolled leisurely through the tribe for almost an hour before Lezhi, led by Leyou, passed through several huge vines and arrived at an open space.
"We're here! Look, Lezhi, this is where you'll be staying from now on. What do you think?"
Following Leyou's outstretched arm, Lezhi looked at the open space covered with various low-lying plants. Her gaze wandered outwards, and in the distance, she could vaguely see streams and mountain peaks. It was indeed a beautiful place nestled against the mountains and beside the water, but...
"Where...am I supposed to stay?"
