Chapter 55 The Secret Path of the Stone Coffin and the Unknown Road Ahead

Chapter 55 The Secret Path of the Stone Coffin and the Unknown Road Ahead

Holding the slightly warm map, Huanmo led the group step by step with difficulty toward the stone coffin. The evil power gushing from the stone coffin swept toward them like a raging tide, and with each step forward, it seemed to break through their body's defenses and completely devour them.

The hall grew increasingly dim, the few rays of light filtering through the cracks obscured by the intense, malevolent aura. The surrounding walls seemed to tremble, emitting a low, humming sound, as if mourning the impending doom. The moss on the floor, startled, curled up, and the cracks in the stone slabs widened, as if the ancient castle floor was about to crumble.

Huanmo clenched his teeth, his heart filled with tension and doubt. He pondered to himself, "What's going on with this map? Why is the route pointing to this stone coffin filled with evil power? Could we really find a way out here, or is this just an even more deadly trap?" Despite his worries, he knew he couldn't back down now. Wanru and his companions were all counting on him to lead them out of this predicament. Even if there was only a sliver of hope, he had to try.

Wanru clutched her injured shoulder, following closely behind Huanmo. Her eyes held fear, but even more so, trust in Huanmo. She silently encouraged him, "Huanmo, you can do it. We'll definitely get out of here safely."

The woman in black robes, the man in white, the man in green robes, and Qingwan all wore solemn expressions. They each mobilized the remaining spiritual energy within their bodies, doing their utmost to resist the ever-approaching evil force. The white tiger stayed close to the group, occasionally letting out a low roar, seemingly to bolster their courage.

Finally, the group arrived at the stone coffin. The coffin emitted a chilling light, and the evil power within churned and surged like a tangible black fog, making anyone who looked at it feel dizzy. The strange runes that had been carved all over the coffin lid flickered even more intensely, as if issuing a silent warning.

Huanmo took a deep breath and, following the route clearly shown on the map, he discovered a faint crack on one side of the stone coffin. The light around the crack was slightly different from the rest of the coffin, exuding a mysterious aura.

"Everyone be careful, this might be the exit, but it could also hide a greater danger," Huanmo whispered.

Everyone nodded in agreement, becoming even more vigilant.

Huanmo slowly reached out his hand, probing towards the crack. The moment his fingers touched the edge, a bone-chilling cold instantly spread throughout his body, causing him to shiver involuntarily. But he didn't back down; instead, he forcefully pushed the crack apart.

With a muffled thud, the crevice slowly widened, revealing a narrow secret path. The path was pitch black, with faint, eerie winds whistling through it, as if countless wronged souls were weeping within.

"Let's go!" Huanmo made a decisive move and took the lead in stepping into the secret path.

Wanru followed without hesitation, and the others followed closely behind.

Upon entering the secret path, the evil force seemed to be blocked out, but in its place was an even more oppressive atmosphere. The walls of the secret path were damp, with water droplets constantly dripping down, feeling cool and uncomfortable on the skin.

Huanmo walked cautiously, using his sword to probe the path ahead. His heart pounded uncontrollably as he thought, "Where does this secret path lead? Is it another dead end? What if other dangers follow us?"

After walking along the secret path for a while, a faint light suddenly appeared ahead. The light shone brightly in the endless darkness, like a beacon in the darkness, bringing a glimmer of hope to everyone.

"Look, there's light!" Wanru exclaimed in surprise.

The group quickened their pace and headed towards the light.

As they approached the light, they discovered a circular stone chamber. A large luminous pearl was embedded in the ceiling, emitting the soft glow. The walls were covered with ancient murals, seemingly depicting a distant history, but the images were blurry and indistinct, making it difficult to discern the full picture.

Just as everyone was examining the stone chamber, the floor suddenly began to tremble violently. Panic ensued, and everyone scrambled to find something to hold onto.

"What's going on? Is this place unsafe too?" the man in the green robe shouted anxiously.

As the ground trembled, the previously indistinct murals on the walls of the stone chamber began to move slowly, as if they had come to life. The figures in the murals seemed to be trying to break free from the walls; their movements were twisted and bizarre, exuding a strong sense of eeriness.

Huanmo was alarmed; he realized this was likely another dangerous place. He shielded Wanru behind him and shouted, "Everyone be careful! There's something strange about these murals!"

Everyone cast spells to prepare for any potential dangers.

However, the figures in the mural did not immediately attack the crowd, but continued to writhe on the wall as if performing some kind of mysterious ritual.

As everyone watched the murals with bated breath, a stone platform slowly rose from the center of the stone chamber. On the platform sat an exquisite jade box, which emitted a faint glow that seemed to contain a mysterious power.

"What is that?" the man in white asked curiously.

Everyone's attention was drawn to the jade box, filled with both curiosity and wariness.

Huanmo's heart skipped a beat; he felt that the jade box might be related to their escape from here. But he also knew that in this dangerous place, anything that seemed tempting could hide great danger.

"I'll go take a look," Huanmo said, and he slowly walked towards the stone platform.

As he approached the stone platform and reached for the jade box, he suddenly heard a deep roar coming from a corner of the stone chamber. The roar was deafening, as if an ancient behemoth had been awakened.

Everyone turned to look, and saw a huge black monster slowly emerge from a dark corner of the stone chamber. The monster resembled a lion, but had a pair of enormous wings, its entire body was covered in black scales, and its eyes were like two burning red lanterns, radiating a fierce light.

"What the hell is this?" the woman in black robes frowned and cursed.

Huanmo's heart tightened; he knew a new battle was about to begin. At this moment, he hadn't even obtained the jade box. How were they supposed to deal with this suddenly appearing monster and find a true way out?
