Chapter 61 The Fog of Time and Space and a New Turning Point
Chapter 61 The Fog of Time and Space and a New Turning Point
After the raging wind, the cave was a mess. Moss was rolled up everywhere, water droplets formed patches on the ground, and the fragments of memories that had been laid out on the ground to try to piece together were now scattered in every corner, as if the flame of hope that had just been ignited had been mercilessly extinguished.
Everyone stood there, stunned, the aged voice echoing in their ears as it spoke of "bonds transcending time and space." Confusion and despair were etched on every face. Huanmo stared at the scattered fragments of memory, a sharp pain shooting through his heart. He felt as if he were trapped in an endless abyss of darkness, unable to find a way out. "Is there really no way? We've given so much, are we going to fail at the last hurdle?" he kept asking himself, his eyes revealing profound helplessness.
Wanru bit her lip, her eyes brimming with tears. She clutched the tattered book tightly, as if it were her last refuge. "Why did this happen? We were so close to succeeding..." Her voice choked with sobs, filled with grievance and resentment.
The woman in black robes frowned, her gaze sweeping across the cave, trying to find a clue in the chaotic environment. She knew she couldn't panic, but the words "crossing the bonds of time and space" were like layers of fog, leaving her somewhat at a loss. "There must be a deeper meaning to this; we can't give up like this," she silently encouraged herself, but a hint of uncertainty still lingered in her voice.
The man in white picked up the jade flute that had fallen to the side, gently wiping away the water droplets. His eyes showed weariness, but even more so, deep thought. "Crossing the bonds of time and space... does that mean that the things we experienced before involved different time periods? But how does that relate to breaking the curse?" He muttered to himself, trying to find a clue in these seemingly absurd words.
The man in the green robe and Qingwan supported each other. Their spiritual energy had not yet recovered, and their bodies were still weak, but their eyes were unusually firm. "No matter what, we must continue to try, even if there is only a sliver of hope," the man in the green robe said softly. Qingwan nodded slightly beside him, and their hands unconsciously tightened their grip.
The white tiger paced back and forth, its blue eyes filled with anxiety. It occasionally let out a low growl towards the depths of the cave, seemingly demonstrating against the unknown force hidden in the shadows.
Just as everyone was lost in thought, a strange light suddenly shone in the cave. This light was different from the light emitted by the ancient artifacts on the stone platform; it was softer, yet exuded a mysterious aura. The source of the light seemed to be a corner of the cave, which had been completely dark but was now gradually being illuminated by the light.
Everyone looked towards the direction of the light, their eyes filled with surprise and confusion. "What's going on now? Has something new happened?" Huanmo was startled and instinctively clenched his fists.
Wanru's eyes widened as she curiously walked towards the light, the others following closely behind. When they approached the source of the light, they discovered it was a massive stone wall, covered with various strange runes and patterns. Illuminated by the light, these runes and patterns seemed to come alive, shimmering with a vibrant glow.
“These runes… I don’t think I’ve ever seen them before.” The woman in black robes leaned closer to the stone wall, examining it closely, her eyes filled with astonishment.
The man in white stared at the stone wall, seemingly lost in thought, and said, "Perhaps these runes are related to the spell we need to unravel and that 'bond across time and space'."
Upon hearing this, everyone crowded around, trying to decipher the meaning of the runes. Wanru opened the scroll in her hands, hoping to find some record of these runes, but after searching the entire book, she found nothing.
Huanmo reached out and gently touched the runes on the stone wall. The instant his fingers touched the runes, a powerful force surged into his body, and countless images flashed through his mind. There were images of ancient battlefields with clashing swords and galloping horses, of bustling cities with their busy traffic, and of blurry figures traversing different times and spaces. His head began to throb with pain, as if it were about to burst open from the images.
"Ah!" Huanmo couldn't help but cry out. He quickly pulled his hand back, his forehead covered in sweat.
"Huanmo, what's wrong?" Wanru asked anxiously, supporting Huanmo and looking at him with concern.
"I...I saw so many scenes, like scenes from different times and spaces. What's going on?" Huanmo gasped for breath, her eyes revealing fear and confusion.
Everyone was startled upon hearing this. The woman in black robes frowned and said, "It seems that the runes on this stone wall are indeed related to time and space. Perhaps if we want to break the spell, we must first figure out the information conveyed by these runes."
So, everyone decided to calm down and try to decipher the runes again. The man in white, relying on his understanding of various mysterious powers, began to carefully analyze the structure and arrangement of the runes; the woman in black, combining her past experience, started with the imagery displayed by the runes; Wanru continued to search for any potentially useful clues in the scrolls; while the man in green and Qingwan stood guard, watching out for any potential dangers.
Time passed slowly, and the group gradually made some discoveries while deciphering the runes. The man in white noticed that the runes seemed to be arranged in a specific temporal and spatial order, with each group corresponding to a specific temporal and spatial scene; the woman in black also realized that the imagery displayed by the runes seemed to be related to the inheritance of some kind of power; although Wanru did not find direct records about these runes in the scrolls, she discovered some general methods for deciphering ancient runes, which provided everyone with some new ideas.
Just as everyone thought they were starting to get a clue, a muffled rumbling sound suddenly came from inside the cave. The sound seemed to come from underground, causing the entire cave to tremble slightly.
"Oh no, there might be danger again!" the man in the green robe shouted. He and Qingwan immediately became alert and prepared to deal with any possible changes.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and nervously looked around. Cracks began to appear on the walls of the cave, and a strange red light emanated from them. The red light grew brighter and brighter, as if something was about to burst out from within.
"What on earth is going on?" Wanru was so frightened that she clung tightly to Huanmo's arm, her voice trembling slightly.
Although Huanmo was also afraid, he pretended to be calm and comforted Wanru, saying, "Don't be afraid, we're here. We'll definitely get through this."
However, just as everyone was preparing to face the unknown danger, the red light suddenly disappeared, and the roaring sound stopped abruptly. The cave returned to its previous tranquility, as if everything that had just happened was merely a false alarm.
The crowd exchanged bewildered glances. "This...this is too strange, isn't it?" The man in white scratched his head, looking puzzled.
The woman in black frowned, pondered for a moment, and then said, "Perhaps this is a warning, or some kind of force testing us. In any case, we cannot be distracted by these things. The key is to continue deciphering the runes and unraveling the spell."
Everyone nodded in agreement and resumed their work of deciphering the runes. After some effort, they finally managed to roughly decipher the meaning of the runes on the stone wall. It turned out that these runes recorded an ancient legend about the power of time and space. The legend spoke of a key that could traverse time and space, and this key was intricately connected to the ancient artifact they were seeking. Only by finding this key and unlocking the time-space code it contained could they truly break the "bond of transcending time and space," thus breaking the spell and obtaining the ancient artifact.
"But where is this key to travel through time?" Wanru asked, a hint of anxiety in her eyes.
Everyone fell into deep thought, searching their minds for clues about the key, recalling every detail of their journey. Suddenly, Huanmo remembered something.
“I remember when we first entered this valley, we met a mysterious old man who gave me a strange little object, saying it might be useful later. I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time, but now I wonder if it could be the key to time travel?” Huanmo said, a glimmer of hope igniting in his heart.
Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes lit up. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry up and look for it!" the man in white urged.
Huanmo hurriedly searched his body, but no matter how hard he looked, he couldn't find the little item that the mysterious old man had given him.
"How could this happen? Could it have been lost in the chaos just now?" Huanmo said anxiously, his eyes revealing despair.
Just when everyone was feeling hopeless, the white tiger suddenly ran over, carrying something in its mouth—the very little item that the mysterious old man Huanmo had mentioned had given him.
"White Tiger, well done!" Huanmo excitedly took the small item, a look of joy on his face.
The crowd gathered around, examining the small object closely. It looked ordinary, just a small metal item with some simple patterns engraved on it, but at this moment, in everyone's eyes, it seemed like a lifeline.
"What should we do next?" Wanru asked, looking at the small object with anticipation in her eyes.
The woman in black robes took the small object, examined it carefully for a while, and then said, "Since this may be the key to time travel, we need to find a way to unlock the time-space code it contains. This may require us to review our previous experiences again and see if we can find any clues."
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement. They then began a new round of recollection and analysis, attempting to find a way to unlock the secrets of time and space from their past experiences. However, just as they were engrossed in this task, a commotion suddenly arose outside the cave, as if a large group of people were rushing towards it.
"What's going on now? Is there a new enemy?" the man in the green robe asked, frowning.
A chill ran through everyone. They didn't know what they were about to face, only that a new crisis was approaching. Could they decipher the code of time and space, overcome the new crisis, obtain the ancient artifact, and thus break the spell? Everything remained uncertain, and they could only continue to grope their way forward through this unknown fog.
