Chapter 124 Mysterious Helper and a New Journey
Chapter 124 Mysterious Helper and a New Journey
The mysterious wall of light emitted a soft yet incredibly resilient glow, steadily suppressing the destructive power of the behemoth's self-destruction. Blocked by the light wall, the behemoth struggled even more frantically, but could no longer advance. Its surging power was contained, and it could only roar in vain on the other side of the light wall, its roars causing the surrounding air to buzz.
The woman in black robes stood stunned on one side of the wall of light, gazing at the unbelievable scene before her, a mixture of relief and confusion in her heart. She was relieved that everyone seemed to have temporarily escaped certain death, but puzzled by the origin of this mysterious power that had appeared out of nowhere, and why it had intervened to help. She frowned slightly, her eyes filled with inquiry, her grip on her sword still tight, not daring to relax in the slightest. After all, the intentions of this mysterious power were still unclear, and perhaps new variables would appear at any moment.
The man in white, clutching his injured arm, walked to the woman in black, his gaze fixed on the wall of light, his face filled with complex emotions. "This sudden help—is it a blessing or a curse?" he muttered softly, a hint of unease creeping into his heart. In this place fraught with hidden dangers, any seemingly benevolent act could conceal a ulterior motive. Yet, at this moment, they were indeed saved thanks to this power, and for a moment, his feelings were incredibly conflicted.
Ling'er wiped away her tears, her big eyes still lingering with fear. Holding the book, she cautiously approached and whispered, "Could it be that some deity is secretly helping us?" She hoped for such a wonderful outcome, but she also felt that things might not be so simple in this mysterious place.
The gray-robed old man, leaning on his cane, slowly circled the wall of light, carefully observing every detail. The light reflected on his wrinkled face, making him appear even more weathered. "This power is no ordinary thing. Judging from its aura, it seems to contain an ancient and profound origin, but even I, in my old bones, cannot fathom it for the time being." He shook his head slightly, his heart filled with awe for the unknown, while also remaining secretly vigilant in case any unexpected situations arose.
Just as everyone was lost in their own thoughts, the wall of light suddenly rippled, and in the flickering light, the outline of a door slowly appeared. The door slowly opened, and a woman dressed in white stepped out. Her face was exquisitely beautiful, yet she exuded a cold and aloof air, like a fairy untouched by worldly affairs. Her eyes were like the deep night sky, seemingly hiding endless secrets, drawing anyone who looked into them.
"You need not be afraid, I mean no harm," the woman in white said, her voice as clear and melodious as a mountain spring, yet carrying an undeniable authority.
The woman in black robes stepped forward, clasped her hands in greeting, and asked, "Thank you for your help, young lady. But we don't know why you saved us, or who you are." She looked directly at the woman in white, feeling grateful but also eager to understand the situation.
The woman in white smiled slightly, but the smile did not reach her eyes. She said softly, "I have been guarding this place for a long time, waiting for the destined person to unravel the mystery of this place. And you, who have been able to break through all the way here and persevere under the threat of giant beasts until now, must be the destined person."
Everyone was stunned upon hearing this, not expecting such a reason.
The woman in white continued, "The key to that divine artifact lies deep within this giant beast's lair. However, to obtain it, you must pass numerous trials, and I can lend you a hand."
The man in white hesitated for a moment and asked, "What exactly is the test you mentioned, young lady? And why should we trust you?" He knew that people's hearts were unpredictable, and even if this woman seemed to have saved them, they couldn't easily trust her completely.
The woman in white seemed to see through his thoughts. With a gentle wave of her hand, the surrounding mist instantly dispersed, revealing a path leading into the depths. Strange lights shimmered on both sides of the path, as if guiding the way. "Believe it or not, it's all up to you. But this opportunity is rare. If you miss it, you may never find another chance."
The woman in black robes glanced at everyone, gritted her teeth, and said, "We've come this far, so no matter what, we have to try." Seeing this, the others nodded in agreement.
Led by the woman in white, the group embarked on this mysterious path. Along the way, the surrounding environment became increasingly strange. The shimmering light sometimes transformed into various bizarre creatures, dancing and playing in the air, and at other times condensed into ancient runes, flickering and dancing on the walls, as if telling ancient stories.
Ling'er looked at everything with curiosity, her eyes filled with amazement. Her fear from before had lessened considerably. She whispered to the man in white, "Brother, this place is so magical. It feels like I've entered a dream world."
The man in white remained vigilant, constantly observing his surroundings, and replied, "Don't be careless. The more mysterious a place is, the more dangerous it often is."
As they walked, a massive stone gate appeared ahead, its surface covered with intricate patterns and runes, exuding an aura of mystery. The woman in white stopped and said, "This is the first trial gate. You must decipher the mysteries of the runes on it to open it and enter the next level."
The crowd crowded around, carefully examining the runes on the stone gate, but the runes were obscure and difficult to understand. The woman in black robes tried to touch them with her spiritual power, but was bounced back by a force and almost fell to the ground.
"What should we do?" the gray-robed old man said, his brows furrowed with anxiety.
Just when everyone was at a loss, Ling'er suddenly remembered that there seemed to be similar runes recorded in the scroll. She quickly opened the scroll and began to search carefully. Finally, her eyes lit up, and she pointed to a spot on the scroll and said, "It seems that these runes should be activated in sequence according to the generating cycle of the five elements."
Upon hearing this, everyone hurriedly tried the method Ling'er had described. When the last rune was activated, the stone door slowly opened, and a powerful stream of air surged out from inside, carrying a hint of coldness.
Just as the group was about to step through the stone gate, they heard a low roar coming from inside, as if something terrifying was waiting for them.
What lies hidden behind this stone gate? Will they be able to overcome these trials and finally obtain the key to the divine artifact? Everything has plunged into a new unknown, awaiting their exploration and challenge…
