Chapter 139 Hair Dye
Chapter 139 Hair Dye
Jiang Zhi patted Wu Shi on the back to help her catch her breath and said softly, "Look, you scared them all away."
At noon, she looked up while crying and saw that there was no one else in the room. She sniffled and said, "Your Highness, you're still laughing at me."
"I was so scared, waaaaah!"
Jiang Zhi saw that she was still shedding tears and even hiccuped, so he smiled.
Her body felt weak, and she leaned back against the headboard. "How is Chenxi?"
At noon, she choked up and said, "Doctor Han removed the sword from Sister Chenxi. Doctor Han said she was lucky and wasn't seriously injured. She is still unconscious."
Jiang Zhi lowered her brows. "It's all my fault."
If she had paid more attention to her surroundings when she returned her cousin, she would have known that the person in the carriage had been switched.
How infuriating! She also wondered if this meant she had lived a wasted life.
“This is not the princess’s fault,” Wu Shi wiped his face with his sleeve. “Chenxi and I are the princess’s maids. We failed to protect her and almost caused a serious accident.”
"You're a huge help to me, knowing you're alright." Jiang Zhi stared at the cloth wrapped around her head and reached out to touch it. "How serious is it?"
"It's just a cut on the back of his head," Wu Shi said. "It's not serious."
"Then why don't you go and rest?" Jiang Zhi said, feigning a scolding.
Her voice was weak. It wasn't until noon that I noticed something was wrong with her complexion. I quickly touched her forehead and said, "It's so hot. I'll go get the doctor."
She had just stood up and was about to run outside.
Jiang Zhi called out to her, "It's alright, I've already checked on the person."
"Then, I'll go get the medicine from them."
"Wait a minute," Jiang Zhi instructed. "Find me some clean clothes and fetch some water; I want to take a bath."
She and Gu Liang had gone through a lot of trouble and had been soaking in the water for a long time. On the way back, she had sweated a lot and felt very uncomfortable all over.
He nodded at noon, "I'll go right away."
-
Inside the study, Bai Wuyou pressed Gu Liang's pulse and glanced up at him.
Gu Liang's eyes flashed. "How much longer?"
"How did you get yourself into this state?"
Bai Wuyou's words were full of reproach for Gu Liang not taking good care of himself, and even complained that he had married an incompetent wife.
“Go find some ink,” Gu Liang looked up at Bai Wuyou, “and dye your white hair.”
As soon as he returned to his room, he saw his white hair, and he knew that Jiang Zhi must have seen it too.
Even as she was delirious with a high fever, she was still thanking him.
He still remembers her flushed face, and the sincerity and guilt in her voice.
He meant to stab him in the back.
She and he were alike in this respect; once they made a decision, they never looked back.
“Gu Liang,” Bai Wuyou said, puzzled, “you can hide it for a while, but not forever.”
Gu Liang raised an eyebrow. "Why are you starting to become so fussy and indecisive?"
-
Jiang Zhi slept in a daze for a long time. When she woke up again, the sticky feeling on her body was gone, and her body was no longer heavy.
The soft, comfortable undergarment clung to her skin. She nuzzled against the brocade pillow and opened her eyes to see Shuyao standing guard by the bedside.
Seeing that Jiang Zhi was awake, she quickly put down what she was doing. "Is Your Highness thirsty? Would you like some water?"
Jiang Zhi slowly sat up. "What about noon?"
“She went to see Doctor Han,” Shuyao said. “She woke up this morning.”
Upon hearing this, Jiang Zhi's face lit up with a smile, "Quick, I need to go take a look."
Shuyao helped her up, "Don't worry, you've been sleeping for a day and a night, you must be hungry. There's been porridge simmering in the kitchen, I'll ask them to bring some to tide you over."
Jiang Zhi touched his forehead, knowing that he had just recovered from his illness, and did not try to be brave. He said, "I slept for a while and my body is a little weak. I'll go sit by the window."
