Chapter 220: The Wish Of The Sandreaver Tribe [Part 1]
When he arrived at the second floor of the special residences that he created, he found the three chieftains chatting casually at the gathering area that overlooked the base of the mountain and the surrounding forests.
Currently, the Aslan Tribe were doing their morning training exercises with the spear, which the three chieftains observed from their vantage point.
When Leone walked up to them with the three Blood-Crest Raptors following behind them, the three chieftains stood up in return as if they realized what was about to happen.
"Consider this as a token of appreciation for personally coming here to visit the Aslan Tribe," Leone declared. "These are the Raptors that only important people within the Aslan Tribe use as their mounts. They are very dependable creatures, so please take good care of them."
"You shouldn’t have..." Oswald said, but he was the first to pick a Raptor before Garen and Duncan could even say or do anything.
The two other chieftains glared at the opportunistic bastard before choosing Raptors of their own.
"Thank you, Leone." Garen patted the Raptor’s neck. "This is a fine beast."
"Indeed." Duncan nodded. "My thanks to you, Leone."
"You’re welcome." Leone was already feeling a bit guilty because giving them the Raptors also meant that the chieftains would unknowingly bring a fox inside their chicken coop.
However, Daedalus assured him that this was for the greater good.
As long as the middle-ranked tribes didn’t betray him and stab him behind his back, their relationship with them would become stronger than ever.
"Well then, I’ll be heading to meet with Malik now," Leone said.
"Be careful, Leone," Garen said in a serious tone. "Sometimes, the high-ranking tribes only move when they can benefit from it. After everything that we have seen here, I’m sure that both Hagen and Malik realize that the Aslan Tribe is a treasure trove. Don’t let him take advantage of you."
"Thank you." Leone nodded. "I will be careful."
After bidding them goodbye, Leone headed up the mountain to where the high-ranking villas were located.
Blitz and Jason were already waiting for him there.
Just like Duncan, Oswald, and Garen, his two vassals were also worried about Leone meeting up with Malik in private.
"Blitz, come with me," Leone ordered. "Jason, stand guard outside the door."
*Squeak!*
"Understood, Great Chieftain," Jason replied.
Although the Sandreaver Tribe seemed to be the most pacifistic among the high-ranking tribes, Leone had no intention of lowering his guard around Malik.
When he arrived at the gathering area, he was quite surprised when he saw Malik, Hagen, Marcus, Elias, Ragnar, and Wayne chatting with each other.
Although Ragnar and Wayne didn’t have the same authority as their father Godwin, they were still the heirs of the Warclaw Tribe, so their words also carried some weight.
"I have been waiting for you, Leone," Hagen said. "Might you explain what happened earlier? Your warriors are too tight-lipped to say anything to us."
Leone smiled at the Aslan Tribe warriors, who served as the temporary messengers and bodyguards for the high-ranking chieftains.
Of course, they had already brought their own elite warriors to their villas, so they would have their own guards.
Then again, having the Aslan Tribe’s warriors around would help them send messages inside the fortress, where the other tribes were not allowed to enter.
"Are you talking about what happened earlier?" Leone replied with a smile. "Actually, it is very embarrassing to say this, but the chieftain of the Ravage Tribe farted. It was so loud that it caused a commotion inside the fortress. I hope that it didn’t disturb you too much."
The corner of Hagen’s lips twitched at the blatant lie, while Malik only smiled faintly.
However, Marcus, who was more of a warrior than a scholar, decided to give his opinion.
"I know that you have many secrets, Leone Frontera," Marcus said. "But isn’t it rude of you to address my father as if he is your equal?"
Truth be told, Leone was still not used to talking to people who were older than him, stronger than him, and more influential than him in this manner.
But what could he do?
Gundar had educated him that even though he was younger and less experienced than the other chieftains, he should talk to them as if they were equals and had the same age.
The last thing the great shaman wanted to happen to him was for the other chieftains to look down on Leone.
So, although he wasn’t used to it, he decided to take what his great uncle said to heart.
"What can I do?" Leone sighed helplessly. "Great Uncle told me to address all the chieftains in this manner. Otherwise, he said that he will disown me. If you have a problem with that, then feel free to give Great Uncle a piece of your mind."
Daedalus laughed internally because its Master was truly shameless. Even so, it had to agree that Leone’s reply was flawless. If they had a problem with his way of addressing the chieftains, then they could all give Gundar a piece of their mind!
Just as he expected, Marcus didn’t have any comeback to that, so he could only glare at the young chieftain in return, who had used their great shaman as his shield!
Leone ignored the glare and walked up to them with a carefree smile on his face.
He even took the initiative to sit right beside Malik as if it was the most normal thing to do.
"I hope that your stay has been comfortable," Leone said. "If you have any advice on how the villas can be improved, then feel free to tell me and I’ll see to it that it is done."
"Our accommodations are very comfortable," Malik replied. "In fact, I am even tempted to take the beds and the couch back to my tribe."
Leone chuckled. "Very well. I will procure beds and couches that you can take back to the Sandreaver Tribe."
"In that case, I would also like to have them as well," Hagen commented.
"Understood." Leone nodded. "Should I do the same for the Warclaw Tribe?"
"Please do," Wayne replied. "Five beds and five couches."
"Very well." Leone smiled. "It will be done."
Malik glanced at his acquaintances before standing up from his seat.
"Well then. Shall we have that private talk now?" Malik asked. "I know that you’re a busy person, so I’ll do my best to keep it short."
"There’s no need to hurry," Leone replied. "I have plenty of time. We can talk as much as you want."
"Good." Malik grinned before leading the way to his villa.
Marcus watched the two of them walk away while doing his best to remain calm. Seeing that, Elias placed his hand on his brother’s shoulder and shook his head firmly.
Since Ragnar and Wayne were around, Hagen didn’t admonish his son out in public. Instead, he also glanced at Leone and Malik’s retreating back, feeling very curious on what kind of talks the two of them would be having in private.
The moment the villa’s door closed behind them, Malik’s easygoing smile disappeared completely.
Leone immediately noticed the change.
The Sandreaver Tribe’s chieftain then activated a soundproofing artifact that hung around his neck, ensuring that no one outside would be able to overhear their discussion.
After all, what he was about to talk about with Leone was extremely important.
With Hagen and the heirs of the Warclaw Tribe just outside their villa, he had to make sure that none of them would be able to overhear anything that he would be discussing with the Chieftain of the Aslan Tribe.
