Chapter 15 Primeval Forest
Chapter 15 Primeval Forest
"Mom, what happened?"
"The Qilin God is dead!!"
"Ah? How come?"
Upon receiving this news, Shan was struck dumb. How could the Qilin God, who had always protected this primeval forest, possibly be dead? But since the White Wolf God could say it, he must have his own speculation.
As those who have seen the movie know, the Qilin God is a mythical beast with the body of a deer and the face of a human. It's not that this deer became the Qilin God, but rather that the Qilin God chose this deer.
Finally, when the head of the Qilin God was blasted off and put into the box, it was just an ordinary deer head, without a human face.
The White Wolf God knew this, and it was because of this knowledge that he was frightened when he saw Liu Yufei's abilities. He immediately thought that the current generation of Qilin God had died and that Liu Yufei had become the new host of Qilin God.
If that's the case, it would be a catastrophic disaster for the forest!
Leaving aside the White Wolf God's battle of wits with thin air, Liu Yufei and his group were also preparing to set off. To reach Dadala, they had to cross the Qilin Forest.
Ashitaka had lived in the wilderness since childhood, so this wasn't a challenge for him. Liu Yufei was even less of a challenge; he was more curious about what it was like inside.
But Jia Liu and his companions were no good! He immediately cried out in despair:
"Young master, samurai sir, shall we take a detour? These ghosts will attract monsters."
The ghosts he was referring to were naturally these little sprites. Even if something is harmless, one still feels an instinctive fear towards something one doesn't understand.
Ashitaka wanted to offer some words of comfort, but Liu Yufei simply smiled and said:
"Alright, now that you can move around more easily, you can go around, Ashitaka, how about we go through!"
"No, sir, we..."
Jia Liu's companions immediately rushed over and hugged Liu Yufei's legs. Liu Yufei's words were obviously meant to scare them. They hadn't seen Liu Yufei display his great power just now, but they knew that the two of them might die on the way. After thinking about it, they reluctantly agreed to Liu Yufei's request.
Ashitaka naturally saw through Liu Yufei's thoughts, but at this moment he was just watching the show; this guy also had an unkind side.
As a result, while they were talking, more and more tree spirits gathered around, all looking at the group with curiosity.
These little guys rarely see strangers, and they all started shaking their heads incessantly. This was both an expression of their will and a kind of summoning ritual.
Seeing this, Liu Yufei and Ashitaka were quite in sync and got up and left immediately. The two behind them hurriedly came over, but their eyes were still looking around at the increasing number of tree spirits.
Many tree spirits had also appeared on the back of the deer, but as a natural creature, it did not find the arrival of the tree spirits unusual. Finally, a bold tree spirit jumped down from a branch and landed directly on Liu Yufei's shoulder.
This completely charmed Liu Yufei, but he didn't dare touch it with his hands, afraid of scaring the little sprite away.
Ashitaka, however, looked at the little tree spirit in front of him and said:
"Excuse me, little tree spirit, we've disturbed you. Could you please show us the way?"
The tree spirit turned around cutely, and just as Ashitaka was about to touch it, the tree spirit disappeared in a panic.
They were drawn by Ashitaka's power, because Ashitaka's curse originated from the Kirin God. Unfortunately, Ashitaka's curse carries the power of death, so although these tree spirits were attracted, they dared not let Ashitaka touch them.
In stark contrast to Ashitaka, Liu Yufei ate the Healing Fruit, so he now exudes the power of life, making these little tree spirits naturally want to get close to him.
The number of tree spirits continued to increase, and Jia Liu, who was at the back, finally couldn't bear it any longer and pleaded:
"Sir, shall we turn back?"
He was a shrewd man and knew that Liu Yufei was the only one who was difficult to talk to. Liu Yufei got annoyed and drew his katana. The tree spirits on his body sensed Liu Yufei's emotions and scattered.
"Sir Samurai, I was wrong, I'll shut up..."
In such chaotic times, it wouldn't be a problem for Liu Yufei to kill him right here.
Liu Yufei was really angry! Their chatter was disturbing his enjoyment of the scenery. As Liu Yufei calmed down, the tree spirits returned to him.
This forest is very pristine, untouched by any human, so there are no paths. The ground is covered with tangled tree roots, some of which are even fully exposed, indicating that the area receives a great deal of rainfall.
After walking for another hour, the scene before them was always the same. The same scene inevitably made people uneasy. At this point, Kajiro and the other two had given up on treatment, and Ashitaka was also a little panicked.
Although he was born in a wild place, he had never really set foot deep in the forest since he could remember, because the chances of survival were not high if he actually entered the primeval forest, which was their ancestral teaching.
"Hey! Little tree spirit, are you trying to lead us the way, or are you trying to make us lose our way?"
When Ashitaka said those words, it meant that he had lost his bearings. As for Liu Yufei, he had been enjoying the scenery along the way from the beginning. As for the direction, he just followed Ashitaka.
More than an hour later, both Ashitaka and Karoku were a bit tired. Liu Yufei and Yakuro, on the other hand, didn't feel anything. They were just animals, after all!
The primeval forest was not as beautiful as we had imagined, because at this moment, all of them could smell the stench of decay. The leaves on the ground had long since rotted due to years of accumulation.
Looking up, all you could see were huge tree canopies that blocked out the sunlight. Because they were so dense, not a single ray of light could get through, making it as dark as night.
Even in this dim environment, the tree spirits emitted a faint glow, arranged in two rows on either side like light strips. Needless to say, judging from the form of the Qilin God's fluorescent giant, it's not hard to guess that the Qilin God evolved from these small tree spirits.
After about half an hour, a glimmer of light finally appeared ahead, and the presence of light meant there was hope.
"Ah! We're finally out! Thank you all!!"
Looking at the increasingly bright light, Liu Yufei immediately expressed his gratitude. The tree spirits, upon seeing the light, gradually decreased in number and began to disappear one by one. It seems these little creatures are light-averse beings.
Along with Liu Yufei, Ashitaka also relaxed, as it was his first time taking such an adventure. The happiest of all was Jia Liu, who immediately high-fived the man next to him. Just as he was about to sing, Liu Yufei turned around and glared at them, and the two of them immediately became docile.
It had only been a few hours, but the group felt as if they had been in another world. Liu Yufei's claustrophobia had kicked in during that dark time, and now he was finally breathing heavily.
